Thunders Vs VAC on Saturday(09/13/2008)

Thunders started their WMCL fall tournament match with VAC on Saturday(09/13/2008) at Reston.

Thunders won by 7 wickets, good show to kick-off the tournament.

Highlights:

• VAC won the toss and elected to bat first.
• VAC struggled to get runs on the board because of the discipline bowling from Thunders strike bowlers Gaurav, Anand, Krishnakumar, Sujay and Karthik Nair.
• VAC scored just 25 runs in the first 8 overs.
• But managed to score 60 runs in the last 8 overs.
• Thunders were needed 86 runs in 16 overs to win the game.
• Thunders started very good though the lose of one opener Bala in the 3 over itself.
• But on the other end, Thunders captain Sanjai who opened the innings with Bala punished VAC bowlers all around the field with superb batting performance of scoring of 3 sixes and a four in the first 8 overs which brought Thunders in a strong position.
• Thunders were 55/1 in drinks breaks time.
• After the break also Sanjai continued to captulate his innings and it was brought to an end by giving a catch to short leg. Brilliant batting performance from Sanjai scored 49 runs.
• Then it was good fininsh by Anand who gave a good patnership with Sanjai and Sujay.
• Thunders registered their first win in WMCL fall tournament 2008. It was the fourth successive win for Thunders. Hope Thunders will continue this winning streak for the remaining matches of this session.
